Who we are
Excelsior Professional Painting is a residential and commercial painting company based on Jonathan Lane in south-east Greensboro, North Carolina. Larry Rudisill has been painting, pressure washing and doing restoration work on homes since 1986, and he still walks every estimate himself.
We work across the Piedmont Triad — Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Kernersville, Oak Ridge, Summerfield, Jamestown, Stokesdale, Clemmons and Pleasant Garden.
What we actually do
Interior and exterior house painting, cabinets, and the drywall repair that turns out to be part of most interior jobs. Commercial interiors and exteriors for offices, retail, schools and churches. Popcorn and textured ceiling removal. And deck, porch and fence restoration, which is the part of the business we are known for.
The deck work is backed by a certification in wood restoration through Deck Restoration Plus in New Jersey, and a house-washing certification through the PWNA. Both were completed in 2017.
How we price and how we start
You get a detailed written scope before anything begins — surfaces, preparation, products, sequence — in a formal agreement. That is deliberate. Painting is one of the easier trades to under-describe and then argue about, and a scope that spells out what is included is the simplest way to make sure the price you agreed is the price you pay.
It is also, going by what customers tell us afterwards, the main reason we win bids we did not price lowest.
The part nobody sees
Preparation is the job. Washing, scraping, sanding, replacing the trim that has gone soft, caulking what has opened up, priming bare wood — none of it is visible in the finished result, and all of it determines how long that result lasts. It is also the first thing cut when a quote is being driven down to a number.
We use premium materials and we do not cut corners on preparation. That makes us the right call for some jobs and the wrong call for others, and we would rather say so at the estimate than halfway through the work.
Still here afterwards
We are locally owned and we are not going anywhere. On deck work we contact past customers annually to check how the finish is holding up, which customers find unusual enough that they mention it in reviews. It is not a sales call — wood moves, and a deck that gets looked at every year stays a maintenance job instead of becoming a restoration.
